Jess Goes the Extra Mile: Running the Belfast Marathon
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Jess will be lacing up her running shoes to take on the Belfast City Marathon, all in support of The Streetlight Trust.
“This will be by far the furthest I have ever run. I have completed a few half marathons, but the training alone for the marathon has been more time consuming than anything I’ve done before. Training is going well and I’ve managed to stick to my plan!” Jess.
Running for a Cause Close to Her Heart
The Streetlight Trust supports Kanlungan Sa-Erma, a charity caring for vulnerable street children and families in Manila through both residential and day services. For Jess, this cause is deeply personal.
“My Mum, Mary, is a Trustee for the charity and I visited The Philippines in 2010 and 2011 to see the projects they support. What I remember most about my time there (apart from the heat!) were the amazing people who were so friendly, so grateful for the little they had and so willing to let us into their lives for the short time we were there; the wonderful children, always with smiles on their faces (the swimming trip was a particular highlight); and the incredible staff who give their everything to the children in their care.”
